Of the many things to see and do in the Hawkes Bay region, Te Mata Peak is a MUST. The viewpoint gives an incredible view of the ocean, mountain range, valley plains and if you are lucky, on that very clear day you may even see Mount Ruapehu in the distance.
To get to this amazing viewpoint, you can take the easy option and drive to the top, like we did on the weekend, or for the keen walker there are lots of great walks around Te Mata peak, with the red loop walk a great 2 hour walk with great vistas along the way.
